ISN Green-K Webinar: What is Green Nephrology and Where Do I Even Begin?

  • 12 PM CET

Environmental changes, particularly climate change, are already having and will increasingly have an impact on the incidence and distribution of kidney diseases. Paradoxically, kidney care, especially dialysis, contributes substantially to resource depletion and greenhouse gas emissions. While there are many ways to reduce the environmental footprint of kidney care, knowing where to begin can be challenging. This webinar will explore the relationship between environmental change and kidney disease, and the environmental impact of kidney care. Participants will gain practical insights into steps they can take to drive meaningful change toward more sustainable practices in their own work settings.

Learning objectives:

  • Deepen understanding of the bidirectional relationship between environmental changes and kidney disease
  • Expand knowledge of the environmental impact associated with kidney care
  • Advocate for a patient-centered, hierarchical approach to environmentally sustainable kidney care.
  • Increase awareness of strategies to reduce the environmental impact within kidney care practices.
  • Identify actionable steps for individuals to promote environmental sustainability in their workplaces and professional communities.
